Mighty-Minis
in Watercolors/Gouache
Portrait Painting in Acrylic
Working no larger than 4-by4 inches or 4-by-3 inches, we
will concentrate on value and
color studies using black-andwhite colored pencils, then
move on to watercolor. You
will draw and paint directly
in the sketchbook to create
small minis.
Bring to class: resource photos of scenes you have photographed,
a 9-inch-by-23-inch sketchbook with heavier paper (Canson XL),
black-and-white colored pencils, a set of watercolors or gouache
(pan or tubes), a palette, two water containers, a variety of
1/4-inch to 3/4-inch brushes, an ultra-fine-line black marker,
1/2-inch masking tape, and a pencil.
